Our story

Prototal’s history began in the 1980s as an internal prototype workshop at Electrolux and Husqvarna AB in Sweden.

In 1989, Electrolux Rapid Development installs the first SLA 250 in Europe, the third worldwide. Later in 1999, employees of the prototype workshop acquire the polymer division and form Prototal AB as a management buy-out.

Between 1999 and 2017, Prototal established itself as a premier manufacturing partner, operating multiple facilities across Sweden and expanding into Norway. During this period, the company built the largest fleet of SLS machines in Scandinavia, solidifying its position as a regional leader in manufacturing.

Under Nalka’s majority investment in 2019, Prototal set its sights on becoming a European leader. This growth phase was marked by a strategic entry into the Danish market through the acquisition of Damvig A/S.

Between 2020 and 2024, Prototal rapidly scaled its European presence, entering the UK market by acquiring 3TAMP & CA Models, expanding into Italy with Prosilas, and establishing a foothold in Austria, Switzerland & Germany through 1zu1.

To better reflect our collective strength, our holding company, Prototal Industries, rebrands to Prototal Group. This shift is supported by the continuous expansion, led by Global Sales Directors positioned to drive cross-border collaboration and deliver localized expertise on a European scale.
