The story of 1zu1scale began in 1996 when HTS Humml und Hämmerle Tooling Service Ges.mbH was founded in Dornbirn, Austria. What started as a specialist tooling business quickly evolved into one of the DACH region’s leading providers of prototyping and advanced manufacturing services. Through continuous investment in innovative technologies and a clear focus on customer needs, the company established a reputation for quality, speed and technical excellence.
Operating under the 1zu1 brand, the company became a pioneer in rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing. By constantly expanding its capabilities and embracing new production technologies at an early stage, 1zu1 helped customers transform ideas into tangible products faster and more efficiently. This commitment to innovation laid the foundation for sustained growth and long-term partnerships across a wide range of industries.
From 2009 onwards, the company entered a new phase of growth and technological leadership. Milestones included the launch of the world’s first serial production facility for laser-sintered polyamide components, the introduction of advanced cleanroom injection moulding technologies, and significant investments in vacuum casting and production infrastructure. These developments strengthened the company’s position as a trusted partner for customers requiring both innovation and production-ready manufacturing solutions.
As customer demand increasingly shifted from prototypes to industrial-scale manufacturing, 1zu1 continued to expand its expertise and production capabilities. The company focused on helping customers overcome one of the biggest challenges in product industrialisation: the successful transition from prototype to series production. By combining engineering know-how, manufacturing excellence and flexible production processes, 1zu1 became a valued partner throughout the product lifecycle.
A major milestone was reached in February 2022 when 1zu1 became part of Prototal Group, one of Europe’s leading providers of polymer manufacturing solutions. This integration strengthened the company’s international reach and provided customers with access to an even broader range of expertise, technologies and production capabilities. Under the leadership of CEO Thomas Kohler, appointed in 2023, the company continued its strategic investments in additive manufacturing, injection moulding and scalable production solutions.
In 2026, the launch of the 1zu1scale brand marked the next chapter in the company’s evolution. Building on more than 30 years of manufacturing expertise, 1zu1scale reflects a clear commitment to supporting customers as they scale from prototypes to serial production.
